A fully charged battery will go flat in 3 weeks or less in a P38, 36 hours if the RF receiver is faulty:)

dont know if the rf receiver is faulty remote locking has never worked but when locking and unlocking with key indicators flash . battery was new in remote just after we bought it and we tried to sync it how the manual said but nowt is it possible to check the receiver or is that a dealer job

Diagnostics for the receiver, but if it's not the latest type it needs replacing anyway as it will cause the battery to go flat and my burn the lock motors. A photo was posted recently of the 3 different receiver types.

Sounds like the RF receiver is duff or it has had the plug pulled have you looked?

well its prob the original so its from 1997 if i manage to get the bloody thing working with suspension and starting is it just a plug in new rf unit and it should work or again is it a dealer to set it up

Plug and play usually.

i did look to see if the plug had been removed as i had read in high radio signal areas they play up and it came from right next to heathrow airport oh and it is still connected do they have a fuse or relay that could of gone as well

They can fail completely. Try standing right next to the drivers side rear window and operating the FOB, assuming the car battery is not flat.

Fuse 15 under seat.

yup tried standing rite next to the rear window nothing. will take a look at fuse 15 tomorrow if that has blown or removed would the central locking still work. thanks for your help guys

If your interior lights work fuse will be fine. There would be a few things off if that had blown.

ta that saved me pulling a fuse out lol yes the interior lights work fine it seams everything that doesnt matter works and the important stuff like engine and suspension dont

Think you need an RF receiver. Suspension is easy to sort if you follow a logical path. Starting at the end and working towards the beginning is not the way forwards.

well put in the eka code last night it took it first time and the car started with out a jump start seamed to turn over quick as normal . took the rf receiver to pieces and it was the latest type fitted to the car. but got a second hand one from the scrap yard thay said it worked fine ( this one is the upgrade but not the latest) fitted this and still nothing my mate has a same year rr and his works so going to see if he will lend me his to try as a known good one if not we will stick with putting the key in to unlock.

Don't know why everyone has sh!t-fits about a P38 and Heathrow Airport....

The Company I work for rent offices in the BA Maintenance Hangars, so I park at Heathrow, I drive round Heathrow, I have parked in the Various Terminal car parks, I park in the petrol stations that surround the perimeter....and our works car park is only a few hundred metres from one of the ground survellance radars and the secondary ATC antenna close to Terminal 4....and the 3 P38's I have had never picked up stray or dodgy RF signals....and I am 99% sure they had the original RF unit....!!

well tried our rf receiver in mates car and it works perfect so our problem aint that . then put it back in ours synced the key as per manual and nothing so parked it up went back to it a hour later and it has decided it wont play and set the alarm off and imobillised so had to put in the eka code thats twice in as many days now all back to normal then and still working few hours later getting p1ssed off with it now
