Im not saying either of us are wrong. I think were looking at this from different ways.maybe someone with better word use can elaborate a bit more. My brain gone now think of how to word it:)

but going back to the op if it wouldnt drive the rear axle with diff lock on there has to be summit broke in the rear drive train, which would stop it driving the front when the front was repaired.....unless difflock was on.. which suggests difflock wasnt engaged at all... so yer either back to jacking it up and wagglin wheels.... or find a tree with wet grass and a chain , chain vehicle to tree set it going in low first with difflock on , then get out and there should be one wheel spinning on each axle if difflock is working. if only one wheel (out of 4 ) is spinning diff lock aint engaged.

Or we find out if the OP knows the differance between difflock and low-box first.
 
You can lock the diffs in any cant you? Never had a auto disco. But if yer wanna change box yer need to be i n
 
Sorry for any mis information. Thats just way I understood it work. Live and learn and all that tripe, I don't think im 100% wrong. Just not got all the pieces to the puzzle. Is the op sure its a disco 1,not a td5 with a traction button?
