Hi all, quite new to being a Freelander owner and i must say i have never spent so much time on my back! My question for today is- since i have removed my propshaft as my VCU is shot, i was considering waiting til nearer winter to re-fit said prop and wondered if i should do anything to the vehicle when it is in this condition? i.e fitting a blanking plate to the IRD. Is this or any other measure required?

Hi Allan

I'm currently running mine in 2wd too, there is no need to fit a plate, unless you are going to leave it in 2wd permanently. You'll probably just need to clean up the mating faces of the drives before reassembly.

Also, look at tyre replacement when you fit the new / recon VCU, to preserve the drivetrain longevity.

Make yerself some Hipporamps (TM) as you'll be spending every other weekend under it.  ;)
