Hi All, my interior map reading light comes on when I unlock the car/open the doors and goes off when I close the doors....but I cant manually turn it on or the map reading lights on from inside the car by pressing the buttons!
what gives?! Anyone else had this?

someone else had this just a few days ago...pop the unit out and clean all the connections.. bad main earth not allowing you to switch on manually....

Yes, this was occuring to mine too.

The sparky up the garage cleaned all the connections but told me that they had corroded and he couldn't be sure how long his 'repair' would last. Because of this he did it for free.

It lasted a fortnight. He's now resoldered new connections for me, so hopefully it will be fixed for good. This time it cost me a four pack of Carlings

He speculated that condensation had built up on the PCB board over the years and that corrosion of the electrical connections was inevitable.
