Hi again, my 97 300 disco has stopped beeping when you open the drivers door and the keys are in the ignition. It also no longer beeps when the lights are left on plus when the driver door opens the interior light doesn't come on however the lights do come on with other doors open. Any one any ideas as already my missus has left the lights on and killed my battery!

I dont know if it is connected but my remote key has become very sticky im thinking about getting a new one programmed are they expensive iv heard someone say you can programme it yourself?

Have you checked the door pin for a good earth contact? are you sure that's the only things not working, what about rear fogs and wiper, if they don't work then that suggests u have a problem with the multi function unit as that's the item that gives u the tone plus a lot more.

What u have heard is incorrect your fob is NOT diy programmable unless u have a Land Rover Testbook that is. Remote key do a refurb service for fobs.

I second the door pin is maybe stuck or has a broken connection

The rear wiper still works ill check the rear fogs before i try looking into the door switch, cheers

mine did this, fuse in the engine bay had blown

Sounds like the MFU could be on its way out.

How do you check teh door pins?

undo the single screw on the a pillar switch and take out the sliding switch

then get a bit of wire and earth the wire on the back of the switch to a good earth

go through the tests again with it earthed

rear wiper works ?
lights on - beeping ?
keys in - beeping?


if all above happen the switch is foobarred or mucky
if not MFU may be dodgy, or connections to it
