Hei all! We have a Defender 110 300 tdi from 1995. It's intercooler needs flushing/cleaning. What is the best to use? Is it ok with pure and clean gaoline or should I go for anything else? Regards Lesja, Norway

petrol will be fine, make sure its flushed well with clean water afterwards and left to dry for a while before you re-install it.#

at what intervals should this be done [I have 106k on the clock and I have never cleaned out the intercooler] and will it make any noticeable difference?

I cleaned mine out at about 110k miles, it had about a 4mm thick layer of crap in it!

Dunno if it made a difference as at the time I also junked the EGR, added new intercooler pipes etc etc ...

I should imagine cleaning at 75k would be reasonable and would give a noticeable benefit, judging by the volume taken up by the crap ... it must let the engine breathe more easily!

Check the Haynes, I think its 60k from memory. It may make a difference. depends if its ever gotten muddy or if the fins are blocked.

Mine had never been offroad and I did it when i bought it. Dont think it made any difference. Its not on 98k.
