HI,
Am new to the forum - I hope you can assist.
I am looking at buying a Discovery 4, it ticks a lot of boxes! And I have always wanted a Land Rover.
However, if buy it, my insurance will go up by £331. This is from a Volvo XC70. Am currently with Aviva.
Who do people use for their insurance? Are there any companies that specialise in Land Rovers, perhaps?
Note I live in South Cumbria, so insurance tends to be low, lower than cities anyway.
Thank you.
Al

That's not so bad. Being a mainstream car then I would try a bunch of insurance comparison websites.
Last week I was talking to a broker and some of the quotes coming back for new Range Rovers are more than £40k!
lad at work on his corsa doubled and that was the very best he could get.

Jeepers - 40k! I wonder why that is!
My laddie is about to enter the wonderful world of motoring. He was quoted 4 1/2k for insurance for a 1.0 cross, worth £1200. My first car cost me £325 to insure, on a £300 car! But that was in the dark ages......

JLR products get stolen ALOT, all the time infact.
Apparently LandRover no longer offer you drive home insurance on your new purchase.

Land Rover discovery 4 is a disposable vehicle that is end of life after the warranty period expires.
Buying a used one is foolish.

Insurance is mad, completely out of hand at the moment.
My son's first car was a 200tdi Ninety at £2.5k for his first Insurance 8 years ago.
At this rate it will be the same again this year.

99% of car manufacturers wish nothing to do with any vehicles after the warranty period expires .
There's a reason for this fact.

Because a Volvo XC70 is more reliable, cheaper to fix when it goes wrong, suffer less serious faults, and don't get stolen as often.
The one thing that Land Rover do ok at is making something that is comfy and looks and feels nice. In general they have never been that reliable.

Yeah, keeps coming back under a different name, ignore him and his future incantations.
He does, and most of what he says is rubbish, although in this I agree. The OP should stick with the Volvo, and save loads of heartache when the crankshaft breaks.
