Anybody tell me what the Insa special track tyres are like on the road ?? I know they are going to be **** but how **** ? everyday use? Could you do a couple of hundred miles journey wiv them ?

Cheers

My mate runs the special track 265s on his 90 for everything. They are pretty loud on the road (like being chased by a helicopter above 40mph) and you certainly cant take corners at the same speed you would with BFG ATs but they seem good. He often did 100mile+ journeys on them and wasn't dead/deaf at the other end.

you could do long journeys with them but your arms will ache, putting them in a wheel barrow will help, i run them on my V8 90 and dont really go over 60 mph and dont do motorways so not much help really, i keep them on all year round but again i only do a few hundred miles a month , think you would be better of having two sets of tyres as they are brilliant off road which is what they are designed for and run some ATs for general road work mways etc

Thanks chaps :)
Already have a set of Cooper st's but need some new knobbleys.

Bloody big place France and some mucky events can be hundreds of miles away hence the question.

Went from Nottingham to Peterhead with them on.
They're deafening as mentioned.

But... its a LR 90 its not exactly 'refined' :D
Loud tyre on the road though.

Double check the speed rating on them and dont go over it. We had a guy have one go egg shaped and seriously distort by doing 70mph on them. Scary to go round corners in the wet. Just remember what you have on ur wheels, take extra care about leaving ample distances and knowing corners and you will be fine

;):DCool ! so now that I aint got shot to bits for a tyre question (yet :D)

Do you think that these tyres would do the job ? I'm looking for a fairly horny tyre that will get us about at some quite boggy events but have to drive there with them. and then put me coopers on for daily driving.

Always run greenway machos/ caimans in the past that were good but not that good yi dint get stuck !! Can't get BFG KM2's at the moment and are a bit deer for my budget !

Olt else I mighjt consider ?

Cheers ;)

I keep my special tracks on my 110 all year round. I've had no prolems with road handling even in wet conditions.

The only complaint I have about them is the road noise.

Last weekend I took INSAs off my 90 and refitted with BFG ATs to see if road driving was any better - results much better road manners, but yet to do off road stuff.

That Landy looks way too shiny :D I run on insa turbos all the time only thing is the noise.. Worth putting up with for the off-road performance from them.

Thanks everybod for yeh feedback ;)

Was nearly tempted to go for a set of Malatesta Kaiman but could'nt find anything positive about them on t'web !!

Just ordered a set of special tracks on black modulars :)
