Also had to by an original boot not a stretchy one as the inner joint is not round!

I have found there is a knack to splitting joints... But even then some come apart easily and some are a right bar steward.........
Pull shaft from car... Cut off old boot... Clean most of the grease up so you can see what you are doing... Clamp driveshaft in vice.. Hammer the inner section carefully using enough force to shift inner section but not enough to damage stuff...!

Thanks mate, I have used a puller in the past but don't have access to that tomorrow so hopefully a vice and a cold chisel will do the trick!

you can buy the plastic cone for the stretch boots so save expense on the proper jobby tool

You can't fire the boots acros the workshop with a cone though!

I got one of these for my mums car as it looked as though it would save time and effort.........lazy cow still hasn't done it after 6months or so!

Stretch boots don't work on the inboard CV joint as its outer section isn't round.
It has 3 concave sections around its perimeter that the factory boot fits into.
Sadly quite right!
Got the boot from LR this morning and will be attempting this afternoon after I do the radius arm bushes on my p38 (which I wish was easy to work on like the hippo!)

All done now, easy as it turn out!
Jack and secure car
Undo hub nut (may need to raise and lower a few times as helps when wheel on ground)
Mark shaft position into tripod housing
Undo front wish bone and rear wish bone bolts (3 total)
Carefully pull drive shaft out of tripod housing making sure it doesn't fall apart
Remove shaft from hub
Clamp in vice
Remove circlip
Mark all positions as it's important that the tripod goes back into the housing in the same orientation
Use cold chisel to drive tripod off
Remove old boot remains
Put on new boot
Use socket to put tripod back on
Replace circlip
Clean as needed
Re grease tripod
Put a load of grease in tripod housing
Refit shaft carefully keeping clean
Fit boot to tripod housing and nip up each
Put it all back together!
Some pics of tripod all clean pre re grease.
I got a New boot kit with super special land rover grease £23 from LR stealer.
