Hi All, replacing my exhaust manifold and read threads on painting finishing, but no mention if aluminium inlet manifold should /could be painted and if so what paint to use or just keep bare aluminium ...any thoughts or advise would be appreciated

Should have put ewngine is 2.25 petrol ex mod, and found traces of Duck egg Blue on manifold... any idea's if this should be heat proof and availability?

as std from the factory they were bare aluminuim ,duck egg blue wasnt particularly heat resistant

I had access to a sandblast cabinet at work so tended to blast most aluminium parts. Find a local blaster it is very cheap, go for vapour blasting if you get a choice nice finish and stays cleaner than sand blast finish does.

Thanks Guy's... bare ali it is... hadn't thought about blasting it... was gonna wire brush!

I've tried a couple of coats of clear lacquer on the one I'm rebuilding. It should manage the temperature on the inlet. I've also given the exhaust a few coats or steel grey hi temp paint..I usually stay original but I'm hoping that the regular oil spills will be easier to clean off!
