my injection pump is broken and needs replacing, one problem i have is if i buy another 2nd hand pump that hasnt got a locating pin in it how do i time the pump up to go with everything else? hope someone can help me, many thanks. the engine is a 200tdi out of a disco

Send it into a diesel shop to get overhauled?

Phone a lucas/bosch/diesel dealer see if they will do it for you (you could mail it both ways for about £20 if you cannot find one localy).

The plain end of a 9.5mm drill bit will time your pump - dont stress,its not too major.

so if i get a 2nd hand injection pump that has no locater 9.5 pin in it can i just insert one and it will be timed up to fit and work correctly or does it have to do so many turns before its timed up with rest of the engine? it is only a small pully compared to the rest of the pullys and i know that you turn the engine 2 revolutions to line up to top dead centre.

every one i know isnt too sure as to how many turns it has to do before i can relocate a new timing pin.

i so much want to get to billing in 2 weeks and too skint to take it to a diesel specialist. thanks all.....
