without the locking kit? ive heard a 9.5mm drill can be used to lock it. But before i get to that point how do i remove it? all pipes removed and plate mount bolts. cover is off and now im stuck... i gather i have to be at TDC before the pump is removed. can anyone advise on the next move? or if anyone is local and bored tomorrow

Line up mark on bottom crank pulley ! If its in the right place then a 9.5 drill will slip into the locking hole ! It's at about 11o clock position on inj pump!! You will have to remove your bottom pulley , water pump and front timing case to de tension timing belt !!!!

Won't need to remove water pump on a 300tdi but you will need to remove viscous fan.. would be a lot easier if you have a proper locking kit as you don't need to remove belt tension or crank pulley etc. watch this 300tdi Injection pump removal refit - using Paddock PM029 timing pin kit - YouTube

Yeah I bottled it and have ordered the locker kit.
