I'm due an mot on my 1987 90.
My foglight did not display on dash so pulled instrument panel off replaced bulb.
In true land rover fashion fix one fault another occurs.

My indicators display on dash as normal but when hazard switch pressed nothing displayed on dash indicators light goes off also but ticking can be heard and exterior lights function as normal.

However the little orange light on the button by your right knee does flash would this scrape me through an MOT whilst I fix the fault?

Just had a quick nose at the MOT requirements and whilst they require a tell-tale for the indicators this doesn't seem to be mentioned for the hazards, they've just got to work.
You could be lucky.

Could be dodgy hazard switch, very common problem on old landies. i had problems with my hazards and indicators, turned out to be that switch, the plastic breaks down and cracks after about 20 years and the contacts don't work properly.

I have resolved the issue.
I started by putting a volt meter on the connector and found a voltage that corresponded with the trailer/hazard light so it was getting power which ruled out the usual hazard switch issues.-
So swapped the battery indication bulb which i Knew worked and that stopped working??? Plot thickened? So swapped with glow plug bulb which i also knew worked now I had 3 lights out?
Using the volt meter switched to continuity setting i touched the copper tracks on the circuits either side of the bulbs and low and behold no current.
With a piece of wet and dry i rubbed every connection on all the bulb holders refitted and they all work>> Even the diff light which has never lit up.
Very pleased and I hope this helps someone.

Interesting to see your diagnostic process there, will be handy for people I'm sure.

Did you do this before or after your MOT?
