when it rains it pours!

alternator only giving out 11.7 on idle and hit a pot hole last nite and the batt started to drain. think it may need a n new alternator
also while looking noticed there cream foam in engine an moisture coming from exhaust. so told it needsa a new head gasket.

any 1 recommend or no of any decent but low price parts? needing head gasket, with kit. eg. oil, filter, coolant, alternator. and was told a thermostat? or something like that with some other stuff to go with the head gasket. :/

any help would b appreciated. thanks!

You'll find these are normally snake oil.
I assume yours is the petrol version......from what I've read you need the updated mls head gasket kit and something called a prt (maybe) should also be fitted.
The guys with the petrol engines should be along soon enough to say what bits you should be buying.

i spoke to a guy that mentioned that cos the oil an water is mixing then its not the head gasket but something in the engine cracked...? cant remember wot he said tho... :/

The guy you spoke to is full of it.......common sign of hg failure is mayonnaise

Yes, absolutely full of it. If the head gasket goes, and the breach is between an oil way and a water way, oil and water mix (emulsify), and you get the type of mayo that's not good in sandwiches.....

Good to no, wasn't wanting to end up paying a fortune on stuff I don't need.

Just wait for wljayne,dd, hodge,hippo, j martin....amongst others.........they know their stuff on the petrol engine.....wljayne has even added a electric water pump to his to stop hgf although by what he's quoted it's a bit of overkill and could probably cool the space shuttle with some success.
They're probably enjoying a nice freshing pint of they're chosen poison but will be on here in the near future.

if you want to save money do not buy the stuff that you put into your engin , it is no good for them and you may make matters worse, another way of testing if you head gasket is gone , i belive it has, is to with engine running put you hand up against the exhaust tail pipe but only briefly because if it has blown the gasket you will be getting steam out of the exhaust and it will be very hot and you will know about it .
