Whilst changing out the head unit (maybe a coincidence) I appear to have activated the immobiliser.
Car hasn't been used for a while but the battery is in great order and on maintenance charge. Key fob locks and unlocks without problem.
Key put in and turned to position 2 - fuel pump runs OK. All lights on dash appear normal apart from a figure 8 with a bar through it on the display and 6 chimes from the dash.
Engine won't turn over and electric windows are also disabled. Everything else appears fine.
Is this where I now need to get the Emergency Lock Code from somewhere??

Hi,

I would suggest you send a PM to Sierrafery,

IIRC, the B with a bar through it means the BCU is not communicating correctly, But the memory is a bit hazy, LOL, and I may be wrong.

Are you unlocking and trying to start the car straight away? the car will re-immobilise ( I think it is either 30 secs or 1 min) if you do not try to start straight away, the original key gets around this by using the chip and passive coil in the ignition.

EKA code should be on the security card if you have it, if not then a LR dealer should be able to give it to you.
Although if the fob is working correctly I do not see how the EKA code will help.

Is the red light on the dash giving the correct flashing cycle ( can be seen in manual).

May help if you state your location if you need help as well, maybe some local may be able to give advice.

Cheers

Thanks for those pointers and info. Once the rugby is finished I will go and look at the led sequence although I didn't notice anything unusual.
Yes I am trying to start directly from unlocking from the fob.
When I find the spare key I will try that also to eliminate the fob but I would guess that it may well be a comms issue. I will also try the old IT reboot (power off for a while).

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for the links - and to Sierrafery and others for all the good advice in the links!
Took advantage of the good weather to look into this a lot further and even though the carpets were dry on top I had a water leak over and into the BCU. Not much but enough to have dropplets of water on and over all the wiring and BCU case.
Dropped it out and removed the PCB where there was a small amount of corrosion on the power supply and on some of the tracks. No components appear to have been distressed.
All cleaned off with a glass fibre pen and re coated with acrylic conformal coating.
Just waiting for a small heater to dry out the wiring before plugging it all back together to try it out.
