Gave up trying to get my hub nut undone after breaking numerous breaker bars and other bits and put it into the local indie.

They've given me a Gaylander as a courtesy car!

Don't like it!

I know it's wet, but do they usually wheel spin so much? I certainly wasn't driving it hard.

Just hope the garage has more success so I can get back to Rangeying.

Get yourself a 3/4 drive socket set.:D:D:D

I Did! I got a 3/4 inch drive 32mm socket and a 3/4 inch 1 metre breaker bar - still wouldn't budge. Fed up with it now. I was tempted to get the socket welded to my scaffolding pole but I'm just fed up with it now.

I spose a Gaylander is better than my other local Indie - they just give you an old Kia.

You did of course unstake it and turn it anticlockwise i suppose? A length of tubing is needed on 3/4 breaker bar. They are quite tight. Use an axle stand to support extension so socket does not twist off and give it some teddy. It helps if your 18 stone plus of course.:D:D:D

Quite tight is an understatement! I was standing on the end of the bar and it was just bending! I didn't think it was worth trying it with my scaffolding pole.

Oh well. Just got the verdict back from the indie.

Gulp.

Wheel bearing shot
Front diff shot - probably pinion bearing as you suggested Wammers as the oil is full of metal.
Front disks warped
Radius arm bushes delaminated
Transfer box grumbly (can't say I've noticed)
Head gasket weeping on Bank A (which one is bank A?) No evidence of internal leakage though. Not entirely convinced about this as it has no HG symptoms at all.

That's made my day! Think I'm going to look for a 2nd hand axle and worry about the HG and transfer box another day.

Now where did I put my matches?
