Hello All,

I have a 1998 Discovery and this morning I went to start it up andthe key will not turn. Over the last month there has been day were it felt like it was sticking and now it won't turn. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Failing that its £36 for a new one and easy enough to fit. I've done 2 so far. A common failure I'm afraid.

You can remove the whole lock assembly and start the engine with a screwdriver or such like if you need to drive it in the meantime;)

We had the very same problem on some of our works vehicles, when the garage foreman was consulted he stated in no uncertain terms WD40 should not be used due to a fire hazard, must be to do with the electrics, sparks whatevers in the WD40 I guess.

Flamin 'ell. wd40 has been used on electrics by millions of people for years. I haven't heard of a single motor catching fire as a result:confused:
