I have coolant leaking on to what I think the transfer box is... the box to the rear of the gearbox.. its a 4.0 v8... starts to leak about 15 seconds after start up.. i cannot see from above any leaks, and from underneath I cannot really see anything as theres not much room...

what could be leaking? heater? there's no water leaking anywhere else, inside or out.. just a puddle directly under the middle of the dash really...
 
ermm.. well its just water in there at the moment, as it overheated, and had trouble stopping it from overheating.. then come across this leak..

i think it does stop after 5 minutes, so is that just normal? water draining out from aircon?

so this could be a seperate issue from the overheating.....
 
It could be coming from anywhere at rear of engine or from aircon drain and running down box then dripping off. Put tray under and collect some if it's coolant you have a leak if it's clear water it's the aircon drain and quite normal.
 
if its blown at the back, sniff test will not pick it up. as no gases are going into the water. get under it with a good torch and have a look for water marks, or some thing thin with cloth on the end and give it a wipe..
