Hi guys

Over the last couple of weeks i have noticed that one of my oil cooler pipes has been leaking onto the front axle ( bottom one ) but i have noticed that the steel part of them have been straightened a bit but there is plenty of slack in the rubber bits of the pipes, a couple of months ago i replaced my timing belt and noticed at the cooler end the ends of the pipes were the ones without Orings but not sure what vehicle they are off either 200tdi defender / discovery or 300tdi defender / discovery.

my 90 is a 1988 2.5td but converted to defender 200tdi by the p.o. any ideas please and if so what's the part nos :)

Or am i better off driving to an hydraulic specialist and getting them to make new pipes to sample meaning when I get there let them have a look and i will take them off and once made fit the new pipes and drive home, what do you think :)

Buy a couple of unions and some hydraulic hose then put it together yourself, thats what I did and they have been fine for the past 8 years.

Yeah i get paid this Friday but working weekend and off next Monday so have decided to drive to euro hydraulics in ashton and whilst there take them off have a set of pipes made up and fit them there

I had a nightmare on mine, I used disco pipes with the 300 engine (300 pipes have a flat disc seal on the ends not tapered) but wanted to use a full width v8 rad so rad cooler threads are different, disco pipes are 13mm .... can get compression fittings in 12mm but apparently not 13 unless you go to france???? tried ebay, pirtek etc etc.... 13mm olives easy ... rest no hope, ended up paying pirtek £30 to braze on suitable ends... superb job ... job done :)

afraid this is best pic I have of the adapted pipes n full width rad but pirtek are good but not the cheapest...

Yeah mine are the tapered ended ones, i know when i was in the fork lift game if you went to pirtek although a good company to deal with tended to struggle if you had something a bit odd ball so just hope euro hyd's can sort me out as they used to be pretty good :)

Sorted, went to euro hydraulics in ashton ( lancs ) and got the guy to come and look at my oil cooler pipes to see if he could do them he replied yes so i removed one pipe and gave it to him then as i removed the other pipe he came out with a new pipe with loose fittings on the end and we positioned the pipe and fitting then he marked the fittings and pipe then went back and swaged the new ends onto the new pipe then handed me the new pipe again to fit and did the same with the other pipe had no problems fitting the pipes then when i went to pay up i bought myself a pack of cable ties to tie the pipes back till i got home then i re-positioned the pipe ends on the oil cooler and re-secured the pipes with cable ties to keep them nice and neat all for £70 and they look great :D

will post pics later :D

Here is my new oil cooler pipes :D
