Hi folks,

Still tryin to troubleshoot the prob I'm having with the P38.
Just a quick question about testing the IAC valve.

I've tested the resistance across the coils in the stepper motor and both are within range. The problem is when I test it while it's running it doesn't seem to make any difference.
I start the engine and switch everything on that I can; aircon, autodemist, brakes applied and full lock on the steering. There's no change in the revs at all, I thought the revs should go up to compensate for the power drain or is this ok?

Any input appreciated as always!

If the revs stay the same and do not drop when load is applied, I would have thought that something must be adjusting to compensate for said load. Sounds as though it's working right to me, but if it's a V8 I know nothing.

Cheers for the reply Datatek.

I replaced the alternator not long ago, so I guess it might be supplying enough power without having to raise the revs.
Just another thing I'd like to be able to cross of my list as workin to help find the problem.

I don't know about the V8, but on the P38 diesel and on other cars an increase in load always drops the revs unless the engine ECU compensates.
