Obvs!
I tried that and it didn't work.
I have a big enough collection of watches to know not to bust one.
And also getting the balance wheel working still isn't an indication of the WHOLE drive train working. I've been caught that way before.
To me the simplest way for a watch seller to indicate that his/her goods are in working order is to get them all going and set to the same time. Only a few ever do that.
The guy I bought the clock off had done exactly that. ;)

It didn't work because it didn't work, it's not rocket science ...

And yes, if the seller was to wind and set and watches/clocks it would be lovely, but not everyone has time for that s**te ... see what I did there ... 😂

Edited because of naughty word that made Hippo cross, (soz)

The point being that brocanteurs sometimes have a nasty habit of trying to pass off the stock from their shop that is dodgy onto the unsuspecting tourists or others who do not know where their shop is, and, as it is a once a year affair, no chance of taking it back. Old watches with no second hand make it tricky to tell, and it is too noisy, with my dodgy ears(!) to tell if one is ticking or not. So a couple of turns on the crown, quick flick to set it going, set the hands to 12 o'clock and see what happens. Which is what I always do in the auction rooms if I am at all worried. Come back after going round the place and see what is what.
No one has ever objected so far, so I'm pretty sure it was dodgy.
We have seen before brocanteurs trying to sell the same Hermes scarf at €250 ( ) that another a few stalls down is selling at €150, (still ).

Re car shows, and back seats! 🤣

Here's one for you?
Any ideas what it is in?

(Not too difficult, I'd say)
