The heater matrix lever that goes from 0-2 acts as a earth or it's supposed too. Mine wasn't working so was sending the instrument panel crazy. All fixed now.

so it was a bad earth.

How did you manage to stumble across the heater switch being the issue?

Did you take it to an auto sparky in the end?

No I just earthed every thing individually back to the battery then started disconnecting them and discovered what it was would have been a lot easier if I had a multi meter but I aint.

I'm sure the Wonga you saved on the auto sparky will more than pay for one for next time.

I tend to use a power probe a lot for locating electrical faults too.
