I just bought this Used Land Rover Freelander 2.0 TD4 S Station Wagon from Stratstone to replace a 1994 Disco 300TDI

Bit of a downgrade imo but each to their own. I'd much rather have a disco and can't wait to get rid of my TD4. For £8k, you could get a nice Disco 2 TD5 for that money.

i never understood while disco 2 is available that wouldnt be first choice of 4wd buyer,4wd has to mean big chassis

My thinking was that I don't need anything as big as a Disco now the kids are grown up and I rarely need to take them all in the car at once. The Freelander should be cheaper to run, I think for a given amount of money I could get a better Freelander than Disco and that the Freelander should cope with the small amount of off roading (towing the caravan across wet campsites) and snow etc that I will need it to do.
I pick it up on Thursday so the Disco will stay in my sig till then!

My 200tdi was more economical than my hippoo.

And cheaper to service and fix.
