Anyone who has thought about taking the dash apart to find that rattle better think again....

I think I'll leave mine alone!

What a fecking nightmare:eek: Is that rust or brown paint on the tube? There are more fuses there than I had in my factory:eek::eek:

All of that work to replace the bonnet release cable.

Looks like rust to me. No doubt BMW cheaped out on galvanisation thinking "well it won't get rain on it." I remember a mate pulled apart the dash on his 316 and one tube had enough corrosion in one point to require him tearing it all out and replacing.

And that is just one of the 3 fuse boxes....

There is a similar sized one in the boot and, admittedly, only a couple under the Elec bay under the bonnet....

Austin A40:

"Fuses: The fuse unit is situated adjacent to the voltage regulator on the right-hand side of the engine bulkhead and contains two fuses and two spare. One fuse protects the accessories which are operative only when the ignition is switched on (e.g., stop-lights, fuel gauge, and direction indicators). The other fuse protects those accessories which can be operated independently of the ignition. If a new fuse blows, the cause of the trouble must be found."

Paint all the tubes a nice gloss black and underpigeon could have a new 'retro industrial' look on it without the hassle of putting the dash back in!

bit like cast iron soil pipes :D

OOH ERRRR!!!!

Note to self...' If I ever get a rattle from behind the dashboard, just TURN UP THE STEREO'!!! LOL

He's had so many problems he needs every penny:D
Not that bad....no more than a typical Range Rover...just a tad more inconvenient as I no longer have a company car (wasn't using it enough so I gave it back) and the Rangie became a daily driver...
