Ok guys.. my 1982 series 3 109 has failed it's mot on emissions.

How can I reduce them ?

Yes it hasn't been run for a while as I've been working on it., so that might not have helped.

Only visible emissions should be tested on that right ?

If so run it a little lean and flush through some cleaner, may just help

the mot man leaned my carb out by screwing mixture in half a turn... he then passed it!

1982 gets the gas test up the Zorst. It may just need a good bollocking to clean it up. Is it visible? Is it oil? Crankcase pressure?

Mine failed on emmissions, followed the carb mixture setting proceedure from the haynes book of lies and she passed.

A look at the plugs will tell you a lot of what's going on

Nothing visable when ticking over or running after she warms up

Just lean it out as suggested. Any tidy mot tester would do this for you with the analyzer rrunning. Ask them at the garage

Yes, my MoT tester adjusts the mix to get me through. Then I put it back to where I like it.
