I'm after a new water pump as mine has started squeaking, and I want to get a new one in before it snaps my aux belt. But I want to avoid Britpart, as I hear nothing but horror stories. But how do I tell? I was hoping to get one off ebay, but no one admits to selling britpart openly, so is there an easy way to tell before I part with my cash?
 
Ok, cheers James, found one on ebay with that part number. Its twice the price of the others so I hope its twice as good! :) Is that a specifically non britpart number? How do you spot the britpart rubbish before you buy?
 
britpart are a wholesaler they sell genuine stuff as well its everyone buying from ebay etc thats reduced the quality of pattern stuff as price is only factor g means genuine so put g after whatever number
 
Ah I see, so Britpart aren't the always to blame. Ok good to know. And the G after the number is brilliant. Will use that trick again! As usual, James, you're a fount of knowledge! Cheers!
 
having bought a few bits off ebay, some sellers state in the ad what brand, others subtely watermark the brand across the image

try Brit Car they'll offer you the choice of Genuine, OEM or pattern. The pattern stuff is usually Bearmach or Britpart, but at least you can see the differences in price. Excellent service everytime I've been or ordered over the web.
 
I fitted a Quinten Hazel water pump to my 300tdi
Comes in a QH box with a QH sticker on the bit thats sticks through the pulley

yer first line stuff is good,i bought some first line vw bushes and they had the gen vw part number stamped on them.also unipart stuff is good quality
 
i find it easy to make sure im not buying britpart speshuly wen im buying over the counter

just the statement of

" dont even think about passing any ****prat blue boxes over that counter or ill make yer eat the fekker "

is usualy enough to get the message across

normally gets either a grin or a snigger out of whoever is serving yer at the time and a good ice breaker aswell :D:D:D
 
As previously mentioned, some online suppliers list the manufacturers and suppliers. Lrdirect is one.
