 Ok. Read a lot about how to tell how old a Range Rover is... but can't work out the age of mine.

Chassis No 35730305

Eng No 35527103

I am living in Kenya and about to overland it back to England and hopefully register it. Hoping it is tax exempt!

Thoughts?

Do you have a registration document for it with the uk vin no. ? - will start with SALL..................................
Would be able to tell you the age if you can supply this

That VIN system didn't comer in until about 1980, so at least we know this was a '70s vehicle.
Unlikely to be tax exempt, only the first18 months or so. According to my list the highest number tax exempt RR is 355-05718, so yours would seem to be a long way out.
If you write to the British Motoring Heritage at Gaydon they can supply all the relevant details, if it is tax exempt it is their documants you will need.

Thanks guys. I am guessing it is about 1974 but not sure. Will drive it back to UK and begin the process of finding out, registering and.... TAXING!

If you have TRIPLEX TOUGHENED glass in you RR check closely on the word TOUGHENED there should be a very small dot above one of the letters. counting from the T=1 O=2 U=3 etc. this will give you a lead as to when the glass was manufactured ie dot above H =5 then 1975 Hope it helps. Goldpanner

Thabks for the idea. Sounds like a good option if during the recent respray the idiot had not dropped the windscreen! Had to get a new one... not easy in Kenya. It was nearly the end of the vehicle!

Any further toughts? Will check other windows for marks....
