My fuel warning light came on this morning, stressing round West London trying to find a place to fill up. How much is actually left when it comes on or how far can one go more like. The car is a 02 TDI Disco.

Cheers
Al

Mine comes on regually (lol) especially with the fuel prices these days, managed to crawl my 300tdi a further 58miles to the next petrol station and it was still running. Wouldn't like to risk any further.

The book says 11 litres. That's about 2.25 gal. It's approximate. Drove a Ford Explorer in Canada recently that gives you a readout of the number of kilometers left till empty. Great till it goes wrong, I suppose.

My Citroen C2 and C3 does that, usually shows the red light when 50miles left then the last bar on the digital fuel gauge goes out just leaving the red light (AHHH) and 10 miles left on the digital readout, after that the digital readout shows --- left and after that you are sailing on fumes. Wife then managed another 12miles (1 mile away from home) before I had the phone call to bring her a can of petrol (DAFT WOMEN DRIVERS)

Just checked the manual. For Disco 2 petrol it's 3 gal or 14 litres.
For Disco 2 Diesel it's 2 gallons or 9 litres.

Cheers

Andy

That's interesting Andy, cause I checked MY manual, and it says 11 litres for both! Mine is the 1999/2002 LR workshop manual - maybe things changed with the new shape model?
