looking at getting a 2 inch lift on my defender.
just wondering how much this will affect my insurance.
im currently with sureterm.

I've just renewed with SureTerm. They said that the things that really affect the premium are winches, lift kits and mud tyres. Mine was an extra £50 for all 3 (33%).
But you need to tell them about all your other mods as well, even if it doesn't affect your premium.

well i have mud terrains on it at the mo.
dont plan on a winch for a long long time.
when u say 33%, is that how much it increases for all policies, if it is then i wont bother lol as thats an extra 500 lol.

My basic premium was £150, which increased by £50 with the mods. Whilst that's 33% for me, it may not be the same for you - best ring em and ask!

I've just fitted a Terrafirma lift kit to mine (so has Griffdawg) from Frog's Island at the special Show price of £225 (normally £360 on their web-site). It's really good kit.

Paddocks do a Britpart kit for £199.

will fitting lifted springs with standard shocks work?
and then fit the upgraded shocks at a later date.

yes, but you won't get any additional axle articulation with standard shocks.

dont think my student budget can handle buying the whole kit at once, wont be able to afford to run it as well lol.
think ill buy it and fit it in steps.

If you're on a limited budget, then decent tyres and diff guards are higher priority than a lift kit.

think ill do what u said, get diff guars, steering guard, and start saving for a decent set of boots.

the lift made little difference to my policy at the time , i told them everything including the new chassis and it was still only £180 ( limited mileage tho ) . but the amount of paper work and form filling got stupid , and for some stoopid reason they kept loosin the forms and i had to redo them . they wanted loads of pictures aswell which got on me tits a bit ...
to be honist unless yer doin some pretty extreme stuff i would'nt bother with a lift , just make sure yer suspension is in good nick and spend yer money on other stuff ..

LAND ROVER 90 DEFENDER SUSPENSION LIFT KIT +50mm on eBay, also, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 24-Aug-08 09:14:24 BST)
found this kit on ebay, and at 200 seems pretty decent.
at the mo my tyres aint to bad, greenway chacos(750 R16), there just a bit small.
them's bearmach springs and pro-comp shocks. you'll get that kit cheaper than that.

I've come across that seller before - he doesn't respond to questions, so I wouldn't buy anything off him.

kk, will stay away from him. think what ill do is start a lift/tyre fund and start saving so i can fit a lift and new tyres at the same time. otherwise ill look stupid driving a lifted landy on 31 inch tyres lol.

also trewy are your going to the tossers meet aint u? want to have a good butchers at ur snorkel :)

Wot would happen if you brought a landy with MTs and a lift kit, and didnt know about it or didn't realise they were speshul so didn't declare them.

so, my lifted deepender on 29" tyres looks stupid does it?
