Never had driving lessons, purchased a car and a week later passed my test
I did have a motorbike for three years, passed the test for that at the second go, i didn’t think there was much difference between a bike and a car test back then.

what motorbike do you own?

52 years of driving :eek::cool:

None now, last one was a '97 Beta 250 Techno and a Fantic 347 and a Suzuki Djebel 200 at the same time. Had loads through the years from Italjet 50's, to Yamaha TZ's ...

I already had a provisional license, anyway at the moment the only thing in the test that was different other then reversing and the “three point turn”, both not required for a bike obviously was the left turn hand signal which was still required... it was somewhat different. :D

Passed test in 1977 a mere 41 hears ago, held a Raf driving permit for strange things like landdrover snowplough, landrover fire engine (series 3they were). With or without out a Coventry climax trailer pump, A variety of cars and mini buses.
Also had a Saudi forklift licence..

I did mine at RAF Chivenor. I was an officer with the Air Cadets at the time and I had to take a lightweight ragtop series out on public roads, so that meant a permit evaluation (another driving test) first. I still wasn't allowed to drive on the airfield, that was yet another test.

Spent 6 years doing 50,000 Miles a year from covering from St Andrews to Salisbury , one year doing 30,000 added to that 12, 000 miles a year ish private mileage (relatives from Aberdeen to Torquay just visiting parents takes 1000 miles) So just short of 800,000 miles.

Not much compared to a full time driver.

hey peeps so i was wondering how long have you been driving for?

its ten years for me this month since i passed my test and started driving,
lets see whos been driving for the longest... :)

A long time. About four times longer than you. I started on a moped when I was 16, then onto a motorbike, then cars, landrovers, tractors, trucks, diggers, etc. And I was steering boats before I could drive.

Not as long as some of the others, though. I suspect that when @wammers started there was a man with a red flag walking in front of the car.
