Rookie you are; 52 years have held a driver license. Started on farm equipment at about 11. So if that counts then 58 years

Passed my test in April 1965! I started driving lessons three months before this and they were a birthday present from my mum - 12 lessons for £10 and included the test. Those were the days! Did the IAM Drive55 test in 2016 just to make sure I was up to date! :D
Still got my original driving licence and its successor - in those days they had to be renewed after a very few years.

bargain for a tenner but saying that the pound was worth more back then

Started in a morris 1000 all stripped out on local tracks/fields at about 6 years old with the local farmers son, maybe 1965 as well as driving all sorts of farm 'things'. Drove forever since, but only took a driving test in 1989, passed, obviously, then my bike test which I also passed. I also raced motorbikes from about '65 'scramblers', Enduro, road racing solo and sidecars etc all through till I got married. When she found out I hadn't any driving licences, only international bike racing licences, she went ape so I took my tests!! Motorbikes and off-road were my passion, it was only when I got married that cars started to figure in my viewpoint.

Mind, I didn't get a passport till I got married either, which hadn't stopped me driving a truck and trailer full of race bikes and people over to race sidecar at Assen one year .. and 'a few' visits to France for Enduro and Motocross racing .. Customs were easier to get through back then!

So maybe 52 years driving, but only maybe 30 years legally ... ;)

I used to be a bit of a twunt .. ;)
