I have most of the components of my S3 bulkhead stripped but wondering how to remove the steering column. I can see there is a bolt on the shaft above the steering box. If this is removed will the shaft (I like that word) slide out of the steering box? The shaft is unbolted from the bulkhead.

dont undo column from box otherwise you will have to rebuild it as ball bearings will fall out ,yoiu need to unbolt from support braket or remove support bracket with box after undoing at bulkhead

So will it go through the hole in the bulkhead with the steering box attached?

So I undid the mounting plate on the steering box but it wouldnt fit through the bulkhead. I removed the steering wheel and it went through from that end.

exactly ,leave all bolts loose on mounting bracket etc till all are started and positiuon adjusted
