As above really,
The idiot who had the car before me just fitted a cheap copy. I have the original, but not sure if it's decent enough quality to refurbish.

I should add, the cars in the shop and they reported back this new copy is tipping buckets of fuel down the carb.

As per the thread title....
Are there any marks on the carb to tell?

Original will be stamped as zenith 36iv, copy is not stamped.
Lap the original on mdf both halves, clean, rebuild and check for slop on linkages and replace any worn bits. Or save yourself bother and invest in a new weber 34ich.
Theres a service bulletin for zeniths that I have. Its too big to post on here but I can email if you pm me

Other thing to check if yours is overfuelling is that the o-ring on the throttle between the two halves is nipped up nicely. A rebuild is probably in order of the old one. Rebuild kits are available and its not too difficult, just don't bother trying to get the jet that protrudes into the choke body out...I buggered mine doing that and it didn't really need replacing anyway!

Just to cap this thread off, my trucks back now. With a nice Webcon Weber Carb on it and it runs great!

The original on there looks to also be an old Zenith Copy.
