So not doing anything to mine today as I thought I would have a look at the land lords.


He couldn't get it into gear. So opened reservoir and it was bone dry. So bleed system with new fluid. The dribble o fluid that came out was black like used oil. So bleed it right through still very soft pedal. Removed slave cylinder and placed socket driver in and rosedrops pushed pedal. Had to really fight to even try and match her. Which I didn't.(she has good strong legs). Push rod in gearbox feels very very easy to push in and out no real resistance. Jump started it and the clutch does work but you have to push pedal to the floor and even still it's not smooth. Never have'n driven a series before I don't know if this is normal.

It's the landlords and it is just needs a bit of tlc.

Sounds like the slave cylinder is knacked. If it's easy to move fluid with the bleed nipple open, the clutch pushrod moves freely but the clutch is stiff to operate then the slave must be seized. Not an expensive replacement but pay a bit more for genuine parts and remember to fit with the bleed nipple uppermost. Yes, it will fit both ways,

It's not stiff quite the opposite. There is no resistance at all.

Ah, sorry, misunderstood. Either there's still air in the system (see bit about upside down cylinder - it wouldn't be the first time on here) or the master cylinder is shot or (less likely) the flexible pipe is bulging badly. Master cylinder isn't too bad a job to do but same caveat about original parts stands.
