Hi,

Have a 2000 dse, with 97K on the clock.

Has a hot start fix fitted, and ive just replaced glow plugs and fuel leak off and checked the other areas.

Can anyone tell me how to test the hot start fix box, as when warm, the glow plug light does not come on on the dashboard (should it?).

Glow plug light does come when it is cold btw.

Answered the same question in the previous thread - Yes it should come on when warm with the Fix fitted....
 
I've seen a few of them fitted (wired) wrong at work, don't no who's fitting these but they need to check there wiring colours, unless it's some Chinese import supplied with wrong wiring diagram or colour codes. ;)
 
I seam to remember that all you have to do to fix the hot start issue is disconnect a sensor connector under no 4 injector?

I'm sure that's what I did on my 98 dse?
Mind you I sold it over 6 years ago now. And I have drank lots of wine since then!
Destroying lots of innocent brain cells( if my brain was Syria they would be a war crimes tribunal)

Quick way to ruin the engine and drink lots of juice as the ECU will think the engine is cold all the time and fuel it accordingly:eek:
 
Have fitted a new hot start kit as per all the instruction that came off their website.

Still no glow plug light when vehicle is warm though,
Any suggestions as to what ive done wrong??

Saint, do I remember you typing somewhere that you didn't have a hotfix because you'd recalibrated the fuel pump or somesuch? If so, what exactly did you do and why?

Did you scotchlock in or solder into the EMS wires? Could be a bad connection somewhere?

The true cure for the hot start issue is to have the FIP retimed to eliminate the stretch in the FIP drive chain....details in RAVE www.landroverresource.com

Mine was retimed before I bought it, and never had a hot start issue - maybe cranked for 3-4 seconds when warm thats all....and that was with a 680CCA battery if I remember correctly.....

I think it costs about £200-250 to have the pump timed from a Bosch specialist....

It uses bullet type connection into the sensor wire.

Scotchblock for power and earth.

Will check for poor connection, power issues,

(in response to other, nope havent had pump retimed)
 
For future reference, the numbers listed on ebay for customer support, are what only can be called less than supportive.

Nothing like being to made to feel like an annoyance...

When working it emulates the signal from the ECU that tells the glow relay to come on. Maybe think you need to look at the power and earth to it. Also you have split the correct wire think it should be Red and White.
 
Problem sorted.
There was a further connection below mine qn the wire had broken.
Sorted an firing like a champ.
