I've done a couple of 190 mile motorway trips recently in my '96 110 SW. Driving at about 55mph, no probs on the way down in the daytime - temp gauge needle constant at about halfway or just under. On the return trip in the evening, similar speed, after a while temp needle gets almost into the red. Tried driving slower - no change (and 'kin tedious on the motorway); then tried driving a bit quicker - 60-65mph to see if that increased airflow and reduced the temp - no/marginal difference. Then, yesterday, driving in daytime put headlights on due to bad conditions and saw the temp needle shopot across to the edge of the red zone. Have tried it a few times and, consistently, when the headlights are on, the temp gauge needle shoots across to the red. Anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts on cause - dodgy earth maybe?
