The Range rover came out originally on 205 r16 Michelin X m&s reinforced , they were the only tyre available , and had been specially made by Michelin
The 109 came on 750 x 16 cross plies , the 88 came on 600x16 , or had an option for 750x16 again all cross ply . Later the 109 had a 750r 16 . The 88 had a 205r16 option .
The correct tire for a 109 other than a 1 ton ( which had 900x16 ) was 750 x 16 , as I posted earlier the closest to this on width for the land rover standard rim is a 235/85 r 16 or for diameter (circumference ) is a 265/75 r 16 , although this would work better on the wider rims. HTSH
I'm based in Slovenia and I've bought and restored Series 3, 109, Station Wagon from 1972 and the person at the homologation didn't knew his business and wrote in the official homologation papers that my Series 3 should have the same kind of tires as Lada Niva, that's 175, 80, R16! That's literally half the tires that supposed to be, 750 R16. You can imagine how ridicules it looked!
