Have had a good search but can't find the answer to this one!!
My G4 1.8 F 1 2003 has a subwoofer in the boot box. The head unit is a standard radio cassette with CD multi player under the seat.

The subwoofer makes no noise but the speaker coils are intact electrically. Should there be a subwoofer amp somewhere? If so where, or is the subwoofer fed from the radio cassette directly??
Thanks..

It may be that a previous owner had a new headunit in there and put the original back when they sold the car on. Does the sub look factory?

Or wanted to add the sub, but never got round to installing the rest of the system?

Glad to see you back on your feet Andy, still take it easy, light duties at most...

On the Discovery, there was an extra din plug for the unamplified bass signal to go to the amp/sub woofer in the tailgate. I wonder if the freelander should/might have something similar? I cut off the plug and wired it into a preout on the head unit on our disco.

Maybe looking up headunit adaptors might glean some information if they specify for HK / Standard sound systems? If they do then look at the differences between a standard and HK adapter cable?

Thanks all,

No amp in the box at rear or under any seat!!
All circuitry in Rave involving a sub woofer shows a seperate amplifier.

Maybe it is an unfinished installation, radio out to check wiring may be simplest. If anyone has a working installation with a sub woofer as LR fitted then please advise what head unit and whether an amp is fitted please.

Feeling better but nowhere near previous energy levels yet. Hope it is temporary!!

It will be temporary with Corona wiping you out, I'm glad you are feeling even slightly better, and even more so that you are being sensible and buggering about with silly light jobs like wiring in a subwoofer, not swinging torque wrenches and such like.

Have you traced the wiring from this HK sub, to see where it goes?

My 55 plate TD4 facelift has an originol Sat-Nav Beker head unit with 6x CD changer under driver's seat, Amp under passenger seat and subwoofer in the boot box.
