I have an intermitent problem. Every now and again when I switch off the engine and get out the car, I hear a hissing coming from the rear drivers side as I said it is not happening all the time but when it is the car sits lower than normal Any ideas what this could be please.

sounds like a leak from an air bag or associated pipework!!
get under it with washing up liquid and water solution and hunt for bubbles.

Thanks for the advice Red. I'm puzzled now came out of work yesterday and it's still sitting low on drivers side rear corner start to drive and the bottom light on the eas button is lit up and the normal ride height light is flashing, get onto the motorway and only the one light comes on for motorway driving and it's sitting perfectly and when I got out to checking no hissing noise, I then left overnight the suspension had not dropped and after the 25 mile drive into work I left it at 6:00am and it was still sitting at the height it should be just checked now at 9:05 and it's still sitting perfectly....I'm now confussed do I put it down to one of these things and forget it or do I take it into the garage and get it checked

Leaks from the air bags sometimes only occur at a particular ride height - when you heard the hissing had you dropped the car to access height by any chance, or was it sitting at normal height ?
You don't need a garage - as already said arm yourself with a spray bottle full of soap and water and get underneath - if there IS a leak you will soon find it !
Spray everywhere, air bags - especially round the bottom where they "fold" and the top where the pipes go in, spray along the pipes too as it's not uncommon for a slightly blowing exhaust to melt them
Do the pipe connections on the valve block too as the collett O rings have a habit of leaking
Don't just forget about it or you WILL end up with a hard fault
