Could be the transfer motor switch pack giving up....they go brittle and crack giving alsorts of spurious readings....
I take it you haven't touched the Range transfer switch?
If it is indeed the transfer motor switch pack, unfortunatly they are not available seperatly and you'll need a replacement shift motor.....which is mega bucks, circa £400 new, and s/h ones can be rare on ebay...and also of questionable quality.
Need diagnostics to see if there is any errors in the TB ECU too.....

What do I need to do if I have?
I have a diagnostics reader, what do I need to do to find out if there are any errors?

If you moved the ratio switch, it could be that it tried changing ratio but nothing happened so it is telling you it is still in high range even though you had asked for low range.
A generic diagnostic code reader will be no good on the L322 aside from engine codes, it will do nowt else on the L322.....
The L322 is a ridiculously complex beast, best you download the RAVE manuals and have a good read....these ill contain the service/repair manuals, vehicle handbooks, electrical schematics etc.....
If you are not mechanically minded or an electrical guy, these cars are very expensive to maintain with repeat visits to garages for work....

I'm alright with mechanical bits and electrics, I fitted a multi function steering wheel to a bmw which had no wiring and wired that so it was fully operational. As long as I have some instructions, I can generally fix most things.
But there are just the odd things, especially on this motor I need a little help with.

My issue was with the transfer switch circuit board that somebody had bathed in sticky coffee at some point as it sits directly in front of the cup holder
I managed to check mine out by using the transfer box neutral procedure which is done by inserting a fuse in one of the fuse box positions but can't remember exactly but it's in Rave.
Mine worked ok so I took out the switch panel, drowned it in electrical cleaner and used a tooth brush on the board and it's worked fine ever since
Allcomms is a great diagnostic tool and Rave manual is essential and most things are achievable with the help of guys on here.
Rave is quite unique in as far as how much detail it goes into

It might be, beyond my feeble powers though.
The prefix is pretty damn obvious and I guess we should be glad it's at least in a vehicle section.....
