Thought I better be proper and start with an intro.
We previously had a freelander 1 (transmission failure next on the list)and traded it in for a 3yr old freelander 2 as we live a bit rural in East Sussex on a rather steep hill which can be a bit slippy in the winter and gives you a nice toboggan ride onto the busy main road if you don't engage the TC.
Anyway the F2 is now sitting in the local Landy garage awaiting diagnosis only 7 yrs old with 60000 odd miles on her sounds a bit terminal for the lump I'm afraid.

That's some bad luck your having, same happened to a work friends f2, think it was head gasket on his at low miles too, hope it's fixable
