Just got black smoke coming from-my freelander1 td4 exhaust when I accelerate
Been reading replies but don’t know where anything is please help

Hi need some advice on my black smoke from exhaust on my freelander1 03 plate td4 when I’m accelerating
This is my first diesel car
I read some threads on here and don’t know where the intercooler is or what hoses to check

I dont know the hippo either. But if you ask the gurus that do in this section Land Rover Freelander | LandyZone - Land Rover Forum

If you put a pic of your engine then somebody may even mark up where you need to look cos I would imagine there are plenty covers blocking views.
Intercooler looks like a radiator usually smaller and will be in the front somewhere with quite big hoses on.

Plenty of knowledge in the hippo section.
