Hi all. I'm looking at buying a Discovery as we do a lot of camping and need the space, etc. I've had a 4x4 before and have driven loads while in the Forces. However, I know little of the pitfalls with buying a second hand Discovery and am after advice. Preferences are Diesel, Manual and up to £3,000. I know this isn't a lot but for what I'm after I can also get the equivalent in a Pajero or Hilux but would prefer to go the Land Rover route if I can so any advice is much appreciated.

ow do duk.yul get a gud n fa that.main thing t luk fa is body rot,mostly around the boot floor(n everywer else anorl!!!).

OK, so looking good but a few questions:
a. To get a Discovery for up to £3,000 what series/model should I aim for at this price?
b. What's the best engine size, prefer diesel?
c. Manual the best?
d. Main problems (apart from servicing, tyres, etc) to look for when buying?
