I have had a 1996 Discovery TDi for a couple of years now, been brilliant but have had a couple of problems with oil leaks (transmission oil), being a girlie not much good on technical stuff, anyway, I use my landrover for towing trailer plus 2 big horses, the garage tells me I need an extra cooler for towing, (cost about £120) is this right? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi and welcome:D
Not just sure what is meant by extra cooling??? I've heard of extra oil coolers for towing with an automatic, Is yours auto??? If not perhaps they mean a bigger intercooler for extra power???

Anyone else???????

Most older landrovers will benefit from having their cooling system uprated. When towing you are placing extra strain on both the engine and transmission, which generates more heat. I would say to go with it but shop around for quotes. Try a couple of independent garages and maybe look through the adverts in a couple of landrover mags.

Hope this helps,

Chris
