I had the same problem a few weeks ago when I got my td5. I asked the same question you've asked and I got told to clean the map sensor in the inlet manifold. Its really easy to do and it only takes 5 mins max. your sensor will be blocked with all the oily crap from the egr. ( i Know you've got it blanked now) It made a massive difference to mine. It pulls better low down and revs a lot higher and pulls all the way.
If its not that. I was also told to unplug the maf sensor. ( if you search for it on ebay it will show you what your looking for) If you unplug it and it makes you get more power it means its time for a new one.
please let us know how you get on.

I would go over to the Introduction section otherwise no one will help you and you will receive an unending wave of fury.

Also try posting in the right place, there are both a Discovery section and a TD5 section.

Welcome.

Edit -

Its also NOT A TRUCK.

Thank you very much for your help its back to its old self and now pulls from 1100 no need to change gear when getting to a hill
But once ag as in thank you very much! !

Ps I know its not a truck but trucks are useful and mine is now useful ;-):D

Welcome to owning a nice olde disco td5, from the sound of your problem it seems you have a dodgy mass air flow sensor and is possible its going into limp mode so might be worth whipping the cover off and getting some contact cleaner and give it a scrub up and see what that does
