hello all,
my name is john and i've just bought me a landrover freelander (well most of it.:p )
the car is complete but has been standing stil for the past 2 years.

after ofroading for over 7 years in ; 4 suzuki's ,a vw iltis, and a daihatsu rocky i thought i give landrover a go!, the most fun for me is the build of a ofroader and afterwards i tend to get bored fast and move to the next project.
i just moved from my native holland to copenhagen denmark..
that's about it,nice to meet you all!

best regards john

What a fantastic collection of off road vehicles..i'm sure the freelander will only add to the pedigree.

Hope you're not taking the freelander off-road, else it'll be stood still again! :bolt::behindsofa:
:welcome:

have been reading up on this here forum and might have found out why the freelander was such a bargain....:D ,have resurrected a lot of horrible cars in the past so i hope for the best.
the car was bought at an auction for 600,- with no dents, rust and clutch, the clutch is a master cylinder problem witch i sorted when ordered a new one in the uk.
then the engine is flooding on start up and will not rev up when cold and not start at all when warm without pulling the fuse for the fuel pump (putting it back after the engine revs up) even when it runs it will flood when idling, only keeps running over 2000rpm.

so to sum up a nice project:dnfnoob:

hmmmmm, am at a loss here... did not check really if it has one,did look for rust under the car but did not check, mainly because i assumed all landrovers are 4x4.. :wtf:

ps what is snigger.....?

that i checked on the way home, the car was on a trailer for over 4 hours running (badly) without obvius signs of leaking headgasket, clear cooling liquid and temp perfect.
no buildup of pressure in the engine or cooling tubes.

Keep searching the freelander section, you'll soon find out why there is some concern about the potentially missing prop sha*ft, you will also find out a lot about the head gasket problems with the 1.8 K series Rover engine.

Best of luck with it, from your posts you know which end of a spanner to hang onto and the FL is quite easy to work on :)

*Hint; VCU, IRD, Diff mounts, HGF will all provide lots of reading :)
