¬Just went to start car 4.6HSE no central locking with with engine disabled followed by ignition key in on dash display.
Used the car this morning and everything was ok?
Of course its a Bank Holiday......f...ck
Any bright ideas appreciated.
 
Ignition Key In displayed while there is no key in the ignition barrel?? First of all, put your finger on the ignition barrel and give it a push and wiggle and see if it pops out, it may have got stuck in leading the car to think the key is still in. If this happens the central locking wont work, I found this out on a wet and windy night and by the time I had figured out the problem I was soaked.

If you can get rid of the ignition key in message, try locking the car with the window open (DONT SUPERLOCK IT) and then unlock it. Give a go at starting then.

Have you got the famous check engine light when you turn the ignition to positon II??

Gave your suggestion a try ....no luck I'm afraid.
I now get when I manually unlock the drivers door two tweets?
Put key in ignition and get "Engine Disabled"followed by "Press Remote or Enter Key Code".
Tried pressing remote ...nothing. Recently bought car and of course don't have key code.
Any suggestions?

Alternative Disarming Procedure

Steve reports that an alternative procedure for getting the system out of disabled mode is to connect the battery when the key is in position II. Mike Coleman reports he tried it on his UK model when he did not have the correct EKA code available, but it did not work for him. Jimmy Kander reports that he tried it on his 1999 with great success: "I have a 99 black North American Range Rover. The stupid thing wouldnt start saying engine disabled, check remote. The key turning did not work, but disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it with the key in position 2 worked!"

Many thanks once again I am reading all of it.
This problem has happened before and always in my underground car park.mmm some sort of interference perhaps.
The first time it happened was when i had`a flat battery and was rescued by the RAC who somehow managed to get it working and suggested i replace alternator..which i did. Perhaps the mysterious battery drain problem as the car had not been used in a week??
Well of to try suggested methods.

If you have all the original books etc that came with the car, the EKA code should be in with it, small credit card size piece of paper. Very similar lookin to the radio code card thingy.

Failing that you will need to visit the main dealer with your reg, proof of ownership etc, possibly VIN NO. if the car has been re registered at anythime. They can call up the EKA code and the instructions for putting it in.

This sounds very much like the famous RF receiver problem. If you do a search on here you will see many threads on it. Basically I would imagine, just from the fact you say this has happened before in exactly the same place there is something wireless tranmitting on 433Mhz (or around that, people say even wireless networks can upset it and they run at 2.4Ghz (2400Mhz)) constantly. The RF receiver is picking this up and keeping the BeCM awake. In your case the battery hasnt gone flat but I think you are having problems re-syncing the key because of the receiver being bombarded with signals.

One thing I would try if you havent managed to get hold of the EKA yet is to disconnect the RF receivers antenna and then try getting the key re-synced. See if that helps get things going :)
