Hi peeps
I know that this will probely split this foram but i need some help with LPG
I love my P38 4.6 hse but with the price of petrol going though the roof it was time to get a kit. I have got a second hand kit from a friend and it has come off a 4.6.
The thing is I have herd that all the pick ups for the gas can be found in the eng ECU (next to battery) and it would look so much better than wires running around with cable tiys.

All i need to know is the wire colures for:-
Engine speed (RPM)
Lambe senser (sig back to ecu)
TPS
Ing key +

I do have a copy of RAVE but it and my Laptop are having a bad time and I think it mite end in devorse LOL. I know a lot of people will say do not do it but I love my car and would love to keep it on the road so all your help with this will help me keep it there.

I'm just looking in to the same thing at the moment prior to installing LPG in mine.

I'm going to cut the injector wires at the ECU for the same reason as you, it's much neater, and probably more reliable.

The pin numbers and wire colours for all the things you want are are on RAVE, in the electrical troubleshooting guide.

I'm busy at work at the moment, but I have been through this so let me have a look see at my notes, and I'll get back to you. Might be after the weekend though!

Wire colours are not listed in the manual I'm afraid, but....

36 PIn Black connector (C505) to engine ECU
Engine speed (RPM) - PIN 23

36 PIN Red Conector (C507) to engine ECU
Lambe senser (sig back to ecu) BANK A - PIN 34 0v rich 5v lean
Lambe senser (sig back to ecu) BANK B - PIN 08 0v rich 5v lean

TPS - PIN 15 for the input in to the ECU 0v to 5v (0.6v at idle)

18 pin Black Connector (C509) to engine ECU

Ing key - PIN 8 Ignition Sense 12v input.

Hi all
That helped alot thanks mate.

Just a little more help!!!!
Do any of you know the best way to turn the injecters off. I know most peeps just cut into the wiring just behind the water pump and find the 8 brown and orange wires and cut in to them. But I am trying to make a net job of it, Also theres not a lot of room there.

This is worrying me. Are you fitting a single point system? If your fitting a multipoint, part of the instal will be to cut into the injector wires which when running on gas are switched off automaticly.

Don't most single point systems come with an injector emulator so the ECU doesn't throw a hissy fit when running on gas thinking the EFi system hasn't gone boom-boom!!

Hi mate
No it works on a switch over relay that you use to break the circuit. I had tryed useing the brown and orange from the fuse box but it shut the hole engine down. The wires i need is the ones that run the earths to the injecters there are 8 that run to the injecters but I was hopping to try and find were they are before they split.

It should be ok it has a lambe in put and a stepper motor also I have a blow back valve so should be OK "fingers crossed"

I cut my injector wiring behind the water pump, and space is really tight, but I did manage it.

If i did it again, I'd extend the LPG loom wires and cut the wires either in the ECU box, or probably better is to cut them just outside the battery box, to the left of the alternator (as you look in the bonnet). Loads of room there to swing a soldering iron and crimpers.

Incidently, the brown on orange wires are the injector positives, and they're all common, if you cut the one fed from the engine ECU it should disable them all. Perhaps there is one feed for each bank, but cutting two wires would be better than cutting eight if you don't have to.

All done the thing is that just after the ECU by the battery box it is only 1 brown/orange it then splits in to 10 B/O you only what 8, 2 go to the TPS and to the air by pass. So the only thing to do IS to cut the 8 wires.

Where did you cut them in the end, water pump or further up the line?

Mine's been on LPG for a couple of weeks now, and it's running fine. Tick-over is a tiny tiny bit more lumpy (but still stable) on LPG than petrol, but for driving it's a dream.....and reasonably priced!

I don't mind releasing the power a bit now, and it's actually quite fast when floored.

I love LPG!

Yes behind the water pump. And yes mines a bit lumpy on tick over as well. But its you only way I can afford to run a 4.6ltr. All the best
