Hi guys

Need a bit of help with buying some bits to install some cheapo eBay special Chinese gauges. This is as follows:

1-Oil pressure gauge. I already have an oli temperature sender (1/8NPT) which goes onto the oil filter housing. I think I need a T piece so I can install the pressure sender (also 1/8NPT) but I don't know exactly what to order. Any tips?

2-Boost gauge. The instructions are not clear at all here...I think what I need to do is cut the actuator hose on the turbo, put a plastic T piece in, then have a short length of PVC hose, then a little in-line air filter, and then run the hose up to the sender unit/gauge. Is that right? And will any old T-piece (perhaps from an aquarium shop) do the job? Do the pipes need cable ties or similar on...I don't know how much pressure they are under...

I did read the LRO article recently where they fitted a boost guage but put the sender in the top intercooler pipe. I could do this but to be honest would rather not be drilling holes here.

Thanks

I dont know what engine you have, but the 300 inlet manifold has a blanking plug at the rear. If you have room, you can undo it and fit a standard banjo fitting.

...or, I think, you can get a double length banjo bolt, and fit it to the IP, where the boost sense hose comes in.

Or just cut the line.

For the boost gauge, the pipework will be working at around 15psi - pretty low, but any leaks will make your gauge read low. Use proper hose clips to avoid this. The T pieces are available from most motor factors.

Going for a different approach on the boost gauge. There's a helpful bolt which does nothing on the 200Tdi plenum chamber. I've checked the threads and ordered an M12x1.5 banjo bolt with a 4mm banjo fitting and will take the feed from there...closer to the action too so will give a truer reading (although I get that there will be pressure drop so I won't wind the turbo up)

If anyone needs the correct bolt it should be eBay item 281069329989 but let me double check it all works first!

Just to say that banjo bolt setup works perfectly. Silicon hose runs up through the bulkhead so the sender unit with its electronics is up behind the speedo where it should stay dry.
