Please, can anyone help me before I make a fool of myself.
I am just about to purchase a set of 1999 Freelander Alloy wheels to fit to my 2001 Freelander using either 10mm or 5mm spacers.
Somebody told me they will fit with these spacers and yet somebody else tells me they will not.
Does anyone have the definite answer? Will they or wont they?
I cant afford the prices they are asking for later alloys on ebay so thought this would be a cheaper alternative.
I really need to know as soon as possible, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

1999 wheels are 15 inches while later wheels are 16 inches the stud pattern is the same but not sure about the ofset

I picked up some older 16" wheels for running occasionally in the winter. The stud pattern is the same but the offset is different. I found I could get away with 9mm spacers; it gave me a very similar clearance to standard on the front calipers, rear drums and springs. It also gave me about 5 or 6 full turns on the wheel nuts. I wouldn't have been comfortable running 5mm spacers.

I'm sure some will say it will impact wear on the wheel bearings, I've taken that chance as I've only run the car briefly with the winter wheels.

Not a definitive answer. Personally if I wanted a set to run long term then I'd be looking for the later alloys, try gumtree and local ads.

wheel spacers always wear the wheel bearing more as it is forcing more presure on them i know i used to have them on a mini cooper s in the sixties but now I have grown up but that a pity
